Pho Thanks Brother
About This Spot
Stepping into Pho Thanks Brother, you find yourself in a quietly welcoming corner of Tacoma where the subtle hum of conversation and the gentle clatter of dishes create a familiar rhythm. The space itself feels unpretentious—a local nook where time moves at a gentle pace, inviting you to slow down and settle in. It’s the kind of place where warmth comes less from design and more from the genuine attentiveness of those who staff it.
Here, the promise of fresh, honest Vietnamese cooking fills the air long before your food arrives. The menu is thoughtfully composed, offering comforting bowls of pho that are full-bodied and inviting, a slow unfolding of rich aromas and layered flavors that reflect careful preparation. Beyond the broth and noodles, you might find yourself drawn to the texture and brightness of spring rolls or the satisfying snap of a well-made banh mi—each bite revealing simple ingredients treated with care and respect.
The atmosphere carries a certain unhurried charm, where the generous portions echo the spirit of sharing and hospitality. There’s a palpable sense that this is a place valued by those who return—whether stopping by after an afternoon at the nearby museums or pausing during a day’s errands. Staff move through the space with quiet attentiveness, making subtle gestures that welcome you without fanfare, making it easy to feel at home despite the casual surroundings.
In many ways, Pho Thanks Brother is a neighborhood discovery—modest in appearance yet rich in the human moments that shape any great local spot. It’s less about flash and more about connection: the comfort of warm food, the kind smile that welcomes you back, and the gentle, steady pulse of a place that invites you to stay awhile.

While passing through we found this place walking by. At first we were unsure as the place could use an update and we were the only ones there. However we were greeted warmly so we decided to stay. It took us a while to order and the food took some time, not bad though considering it was fresh. The portions were very generous. Both plates were excellent. Thai tea was delicious. The ladies were super nice. Would definitely recommend this place. If I ever drive through the area again I'm definitely coming again.

Hats off to Pho Thanks Brother; it was amazing! The combination pho was bursting with flavor and tasted incredibly fresh. The portions were generous and the staff was friendly and attentive. The restaurant itself was clean and had a great atmosphere. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a delicious bowl of pho!

It’s “Pho King” good! Delicious grilled pork Bánh mì! One of the best Banh mi sandwiches I have ever had outside of Vietnam. Lovely caring service in a friendly, casual atmosphere. Conveniently close to the art museum, for a perfect lunch after my visit there.

I’ve always enjoyed this place. The lady that runs it has always been nice, courteous, and really friendly. I used to eat at this place at least once per week while attending #UWTacoma years ago; it was nice to come back for a visit.

My wife and I had lunch here, while after visiting the Washington State History Museum. We were greeted quickly and warmly after entering. Glasses of water and menus were delivered as we sat. The woman who was running the "front of the house" was very observant and attentive. Our food was delivered several minutes after ordering. A check was not brought to our table, so I paid at the counter. We ordered the Banh Mih sandwich and a bowl of Pho. Both were delicious and reasonably priced. The walls are bare, except for some posters about the food and drink offerings. Otherwise, there's nothing to identify this as a Vietnamese restaurant. For those of us who are baby boomers and military veterans, that might be a good thing (flashbacks, and all). I was kind in giving two stars for atmosphere. The atmosphere is very sterile, in truth. Tables and fixtures appeared to be clean and in good repair. The floor was clean. Don't expect to have an exquisite dining experience here, but do expect excellent service and delicious food. My only complaint is that they use the stupid Square credit card processing system, which does not offer a paper receipt. I receive generous amounts of spam each day, so I'm not interested in spreading my e-mail address or mobile phone number even further. The remaining option is "no receipt", which I reluctantly selected.

Savory and hits the spot! I grew up going to Ba-Le in Hawaii. Pho Thank Brother is the closest I can get to my nostalgic meal. The Bahn Mi’s sauce is a butter and Mayo base The Pho could be richer in flavor, but it hits the spot I really appreciate that I can order just one Fresh Spring Roll if I wanted! Most places require you to get two.

The owner was extremely nice You could tell she puts a lot of attention into her food. The combo pho was flavorful good amount of meat wish they added the meat balls that the combo instead of being 5 Dollars to add on. The spring rolls were missing pork and missing some herbs but they were still good.
